Karen created  Urban Poetik Ministries, a 501(c)3 non profit organization to serve the BIPOC youth and Adults of Philadelphia through the art of spoken word, music, film and dance. Karen believes that through engaging and thought-provoking artistic expressions, we can address the pressing issues that plague our communities, fostering dialogue, healing, and social change. Urban Poetik's current project is a docuseries Ink & Melanin: The Poetry of Identity. The docuseries aims to create awareness about colorism, challenge societal norms, and inspire meaningful change. By amplifying the voices of teens from various communities of color, "Ink and Melanin" encourages viewers to reflect on their own biases and join the movement towards a more inclusive and accepting society.
